Materials Needed for the Application
Here are the essential materials you'll need for a flawless vinyl sticker application:
Spatula: If you don't have one, a hard object like a credit card or ID will also work.
Clean Cloth: Lint-free microfiber cloths give the best results.
Ideal surface: A flat, dry, and smooth surface.
Scissors or Knife: (May be needed for large-sized applications).
Delivery Note: Your orders are shipped in durable cardboard tubes or bubble wrap envelopes that protect your product. If you purchased a spatula, you will find it included in the package. If you are not going to apply the product immediately, it is important to remove it from the tube and store it on a flat surface to maintain the adhesive quality.
Preparation and Tips Before Application
The secret to a successful result lies in proper surface preparation. Before you begin the sticker application process, pay attention to these steps:
Surface Cleaning: The area to be treated must be completely free of dust, moisture, oil, and stains.
Paint Condition: Do not apply immediately to newly painted walls or vehicle surfaces. It is recommended to wait 4-6 weeks for the paint to evaporate and dry.
Chemical Warning: Do not use lubricating surface cleaners such as "glass cleaner" when cleaning. These products create a film layer on the surface, preventing the sticker from adhering. Instead, use pure water or isopropyl alcohol.
How to Apply Vinyl Stickers Step by Step (Dry Application)
How to apply stickers to opaque surfaces like walls, laptops, and motorcycle fairings? Here are the steps:
1. Open the package and check the contents.
Carefully remove the product from the cardboard tube. If the product is large or in sections, lay the panels flat on a surface to check for improper assembly.
2. Activate the Transfer Paper
Firmly run a spatula over the clear transfer paper on the sticker. This ensures the vinyl parts adhere perfectly to the transfer paper.
3. Positioning
Place the sticker on the desired area and align it. Fold the backing paper (the white paper on the back) back by about 5 cm.
4. Implementation Phase
Secure the top part to the surface. While slowly pulling down the white protective paper from the backing, use the spatula with your other hand to press the vinyl sticker from top to bottom. Move from the center outwards to avoid air bubbles.
5. The Final Touch
Once the entire surface is adhered, go over the transfer paper one last time with a spatula. Then, slowly pull the transfer paper off the surface, parallel to the surface (at a 180-degree angle).
Applying Stickers to Glass Surfaces: Wet Application Technique
For glass display cases or vehicle windows, the wet application method reduces the margin of error to zero.
Mixture: Add 200 ml of water and 2-3 drops of liquid dish soap (Fairy, etc.) to a spray bottle and shake.
Spray the mixture onto the glass, then clean and dry it.
Spray the mixture generously onto the glass again.
Remove the paper backing from the sticker and lightly moisten the adhesive surface.
Place the sticker on the glass (you can slide it to align it as it's wet).
Using a spatula, completely remove the water from the center outwards to the edges.
Important: Allow the transfer paper to dry for 12-24 hours before removing it.
Frequently Asked Questions
The transfer paper has creases, will that be a problem? No. Because it arrives rolled up, there might be some wrinkles in the transfer paper. This won't damage the vinyl itself. Simply smooth it over with a spatula before application.
